Using Brass Knuckles Incorrectly Can Be Deadly!

Image
Brass knuckles are a type of weapon that consists of a knuckle-duster inside a metal or hard plastic case, which can be worn on the fist. The design is such that the metal surrounding the fist makes contact with an assailant during punching, and using the hand in this way increases the power and range of punches - thus giving them their name. Adding to their effectiveness, these knuckle dusters often have swivel joints at either hinge so they fit snugly around any size fist. This makes it difficult for an attacker to dislodge them from their grip. These weapons are used for self defense, street crimes and as fashion accessories.  They are also known as knuckle dusters, knucks and fist loaders. They are made from a variety of different materials but the most common type is forged from solid brass, making them heavy and very strong. Because of their weight, a lot of people believe that knuckles are the best self defense weapon to rely on if you ever find yourself in a bad situa...

Top 3 Self Defense Knives: Keep Yourself Protected with These Best Options!

Knives are any tool that is used to cut, puncture, or scrape materials that can be turned by cutting against itself or another surface. The blade can be a tool for striking, hitting, stabbing, slicing or chopping (among other things).  Knives are typically made out of metal but may also be manufactured from composite material in order to reduce the overall weight and change the balance of thrusting force versus cutting force. A knife blade is usually straight and its distal end is usually pointed so as to stab something (e.g., use for hunting game), with the proximal end being blunted so as not to accidentally puncture someone (e.g., use for food prep). The specialty of Self Defense Knives Many people believe that self-defense can only be achieved by carrying a firearm, but they don’t realize that there is an endless list of tools and weapons each person can use in their own personal escape and protection plan. Self Defense Knives: Comparison of Tactical and Fixed Blade Knives

There is a wide variety of different knives that people use such as pocket knives, culinary knives, hunting knives, machetes and utility knives. A knife with a long blade has been described as the most deadly weapon ever invented because it can be used to inflict deep stabs without injuring the thrower. The shape of most contemporary blades tends to be either a clip point or drop point blade shape. Practical Applications Of Brass Knuckles

Image
Metal fist-shaped or knuckle-shaped weapons worn on the fists are known as brass knuckles. They're used in numerous popular media and have been around since ancient times.  Despite their portability and lightweight, the brass knuckles proved an effective yet inexpensive option for close-quarter fighting. In its simplest form, a knuckle duster is practically a metal ring whose sides have been shaped outwardly to create holes for the fingers.  As they are typically made of spring steel, the user will be able to exude the greatest amount of force when they squeeze their fist around them. Consequently, knuckles are often referred to as weaponized fingers, since they can punch with twice the force of a bare fist. A Look Back To History During the 18th century, weapon-smiths began to experiment with designs that strengthened the brass knuckles of a fist to make striking more effective. In order to combat close quarters and fight in a boxing ring, as well as for sel...

Top Quality Brass Knuckles With Latest Designs

Brass knuckles are one of the oldest types of martial arts equipment and can be traced back to China during the seventh century. The first westerner to use them as a weapon was a traveler called Hans von Gärtner in 1788. In this same century, they were used as a self-defense measure by some Americans, particularly those who made their living on the road, such as bounty hunters.  The main purpose for using these knuckles was to make a tighter fist with which to punch a person. Thus, the victim would hit with much greater power. It is believed that knuckles were first used as a weapon during the American Civil War.  At the time, each state had its own rules for how people could carry weapons. Some states allowed people to carry knives and swords while others did not allow knives of any kind. However, brass knuckles were always legal in every state and they became popular among many people including soldiers and civilians alike. Brass Knuckles Were Originated From,...

Description Of Pepper Spray's Components And Possible Harms

Image
Pepper spray first came into use in Japan, but was not mass produced until the 1980s. It drew criticism for being a "new toy" that should have been classified as an incendiary weapon. The first spray patents were filed by John Pemberton in 1884 and Paul Curry in 1887. The first commercialization of the product occurred on October 5, 1989 when Japanese businessmen Shosei Takayama and Ikuo Kobayashi patented their design for his spray. Tear gas and pepper spray were used extensively by the South Korean police in crowd control and riot control. The US military has also used this spray and tear gas for crowd and prisoner control and non-lethal weapons to quell prison riots. In the mid-1990s, Dr. John K. Gaunyse, a security expert from the US Department of Energy, developed a method to formulate airborne spray by atomizing the petroleum-based capsicum solution.  In the late 1990s, the FBI opened an investigation into allegations that there were serious safety and health prob...

Brass Knuckles: Their Origins and Types

Image
Brass knuckles are fist weapons designed to be worn around the knuckles. They were not designed for boxing, but for self-defense. One of the earliest known mentions of knuckles is in Martial Arts - The Fighting Art by Sir Richard Burton. It was translated into English by Captain Sir Richard Francis Burton KCMG CB (1821-1890) and first published in London by Longman, Brown, Green and Longmans in 1869. The author describes a type of knuckle-duster worn by a systematized style of Japanese martial arts called Kenjutsu, which was historically used in feudal Japan by the samurai class. The practice was not only for display but for training in martial arts from multiple systems to counter-attack from multiple directions. Among these were swordsmanship, staff fighting and the use of kata - a series of strikes and counters designed to prepare a student to become an expert in self defence. In the 18th century, weaponsmiths began experimenting with designs to reinforce the knuckle of a fist f...
